Job Summary
-----------
Systems Revenue Product Engineering (RPE) is a global organization responsible
for sustaining of Solaris.  We have teams in US, EMEA and Bangalore and we 
also cooperate with other organizations in Oracle.  Our engineers have a deep
knowledge of Solaris and Solaris related products.

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer who will be working to continually
improve Solaris networking by providing source-level fixes either in response
to customer escalated issues or internal requirements.

Job Description

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
------------------------------------
* Responsible for source code level analysis to diagnose and debug customer
  reported software defects (bugs)
* Responsible for engineering a software solution, testing the solution and
  integrating that solution into Solaris
* Required to interact closely with other internal teams including Development
  Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA) and Customer Support in providing highest
  quality software defect solutions to our end customers
* Maintain in-depth technical skills together with the ability to resolve
  complex problems and situations
* Communicate resolution status and technical details of complex problems via
  written status reports and telephone conferences to other engineers and 
  managers
* Ability to work under pressure and deliver results against deadlines
* Uphold merits of suggested fixes to code reviewers and change review
  bodies in development engineering
* Keep detailed, accurate and up to date records of customer escalations on 
  our internal tracking system
* Willingness to travel worldwide to address critical customer situations and 
  to fulfill training/secondment duties if required

Required Knowledge/Skills
-------------------------
* A good understanding of TCP/IP and related networking protocols
* A good understanding and experience of UNIX (preferably Solaris) internals
* Experienced in developing in C
* Positive attitude, passion, enthusiasm for team work

Desired Knowledge/Skills
-----------------------
* Competent debugging and troubleshooting skills and experience
* Knowledge and experience working within the Solaris kernel
* Broad experience of networking protocols and architectures
* Knowledge and experience of STREAMS, DTrace, mdb, OpenSolaris
* Experience of a customer support role

Qualifications
--------------
* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
