I had the same problem, couldn't fetch and rebase, but following this fix guide worked for me: https://gist.github.com/adamjohnson/5682757, it was something with public key in GitLab, maybe it will work for you too.

Hello. I'm not able to commit result of my work into 01 - Introduction to
Kernel. Also I'm not able to commit to the first appeared repository
(01-studen-<username>). It seems to me that I did't understand all these
problems with tests updating, so there is a question, what the repository I
have to commit into?

Hello, I got the same problem. I tried both cloning and rebasing the older
repository, still could not commit because I do not have rights to the
repository.
