Abstract: Eiffel covers a systematic approach to system development,
based on the concepts of Design by Contract and on a thorough
use of object technology. I will present the state of the
art in Eiffel development, some of the current applications,
and the newest developments in areas such as concurrency,
component-based development, language advances such as
"agents" for event-driven programming and others.

About the speaker:
Bertrand Meyer has been Professor of Software Engineering
at ETH Zurich since late 2001; previously he was the founder
of Eiffel Software in Santa Barbara, where he remains Chief
Architect. He is the author of a number of books including
"Object-Oriented Software Construction" (Jolt award 1998),
"Introduction to the Theory of Programming Languages",
"Eiffel: The Language" and "Reusable Software".
